2008-2009 Monthly Tuition Rates

Extended care on early release days are included in the monthly fee for children enrolled on those days. Tuition is to be paid monthly by the seventh day of each month. Monthly tuition payments are not based on the number of service days per month. Tuition is based on the total number of service days per school year divided into 10 equal monthly payment installments to be made over a ten month period. The months of December, February, April and June are not pro-rated for school closures or vacation weeks because they are not counted in the service days covered by monthly tuition. Full day care on holidays, vacation weeks and school cancellation days are offered at an additional fee. See below for "Vacation Program/Snow Days".

*rate for individual days during vacation weeks during the 2008-09 year is $59.00 per day per child.
**These vacation programs may combine with the Melrose YMCA School Age Program in Stoneham and relocate to 39 Pleasant St, Stoneham if enrollment is low.

**Program Member Rate for individual days during vacation weeks is $76.00

Vacation Program is located at the Beebe School. All programs run from 8 AM to 6 PM. Vacation programs will only run if there is at least 10 participants registered with full payment by the designated deadline. Full payment is required with registration form in order to reserve a spot for your child.

Registration must be done online or in person at the Melrose YMCA Business Office, 497 Main St, in Melrose. Please note that no registrations will be accepted after the specified deadline. Programs may also fill before the deadline date so register promptly to ensure your child's spot.

Illness Exclusion Policy

A child may not attend the center if he/she has:

Head Lice/Nits - Any sign of head lice or nits (lice eggs) will result in the child being isolated from other children to prevent further infestation and notification to parent for immediate pick up of child. Additional information regarding head lice can be obtained from the Site Director or the local Board of Health.
Fever - When a child has a fever of 100 degrees or more. If child begins to develop a fever while at the program, parent will be called and expected to pick up child immediately. The child may return to the program when the fever has subsided for 24 hours without Tylenol (or similar fever reducing medication).
Antibiotics - A child with a contagious condition for which an antibiotic has been prescribed may not attend until he/she has taken the antibiotic for 24 hours. A child with a non-contagious condition and on antibiotics may return to the program as soon as the child feels well.
Vomiting - A vomiting child must stay at home or go home if he/she becomes ill at the center. He/she may not return until 24 hours after the vomiting has stopped.
Diarrhea - A child will be sent home if he/she has three or more watery stools during the day. Children may return to the program 24 hours after the bowel movements have returned to normal. If the child must return to the program with stools looser than normal due to antibiotics, etc., a written doctor's note will be required to re-admit child.
Impetigo and Conjunctivitis - These are very contagious conditions and must be treated with antibiotics before child can return to the program (see antibiotics above). If the child has red eyes with discharge or crusted, moist sores, parent will be contacted to pick up the child immediately. The child cannot return until he/she has been treated by a doctor.
Strep Throat - Symptoms include a fever, rash or sore throat. Parents will be notified immediately so child can be seen by a doctor.
Colds - Often children can function well in a group setting when suffering from a cold. However, any child well enough to come to the center will be expected to participate with the other children in the usual outdoor activities. A common side effect of a cold is a runny nose. Generally a clear discharge is okay while a thick yellow or green discharge is a sign of a more serious infection. If this is the case, the staff will use their discretion in asking parents to keep the child home.
Unidentified Rash - Child must be seen by doctor to determine risk of exposure. A note from child's physician is required for child to return to the program.
Symptoms of Contagious Disease - Child will be directed to a rest area away from other children under staff supervision until parent arrives. Parent will be expected to pick up child immediately.

Please notify the YMCA Child Care Program immediately if your child is exposed to a contagious disease. The Site Director will notify you if and when it is necessary to keep your child home. A Health Alert notice will be posted at the Parent Corner to notify parents of exposure to a contagious disease. Any occurrence of a contagious disease will be reported to the Board of Health immediately. Notices will include information on symptoms and general information on the contagion.
