A Message from Richard Whitworth, President of the Melrose Family YMCA:

I want to welcome you to the Melrose Family YMCA web site. This web site will be a constantly evolving site as we strive to make it more useful to you. If you have suggestions please email us at info@melroseymca.org.

The Melrose Family YMCA is a non-profit community organization. It is truly owned by the members and the community. The mission statement details our purpose. In order to meet this purpose the Y must provide programming that meets community needs. We are constantly analyzing our service area to insure that what we offer is what you want and need.

The Y always has character development at the center of what it does. We challenge everyone to utilize honesty, respect, responsibility and caring as they approach any situation. This is the primary goal in all the activities we provide. It is also a responsibility of everyone who participates at the Y. The Y feels that character counts in everything one does.

One important part of our mission is to insure that everyone who wants or needs the Y can participate. We offer a sliding fee scale for those who have a financial need. We work hard to never turn anyone away due to an inability to pay. A part of this policy is to raise donations to insure that we never do turn anyone away.

Finally the Y is an organization of volunteers. Although professional staff run the day to day operation of the Y, the policies and practices of the Y are established by a volunteer board of directors made up of members of the Y. In addition, the Y provides many opportunities for volunteering on committees and in programs.

If there is anything the staff or I can do to make your experience with the Y more rewarding or beneficial, please do not hesitate to ask.
