MELROSE YMCA GYMNASTS -- REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008!

29 gymnasts of the Melrose YMCA team attended 2008 Regional Championships held May 9-11th 2008 in Waterville Maine. Members of our YMCA gymnastics team competed against other gymnasts from MA, NH, RI, ME, CT, VT, & NY. In addition to several individual awards our level 4,5 & 6 teams were all recognized as some of the top teams in our region!!!

Level 6 - 5th Place! (29 teams)

Dear Gymnastic Team Parents:

Summer is just around the corner and it is time for both Parents and gymnasts to start thinking about summer practice schedules. Summer practices will begin the week of July 7th, 2008. Practice days and times for each level have already been determined and a schedule is enclosed for your reference. Please note that all gymnasts are required to enroll & participate in a minimum of 3 weeks of summer practice, in order to be eligible for advancement to a higher team level in the Fall.

Gymnasts must pre-register for all summer practices by June 13th, 2008. After this date, we will continue to accept registration on a space available basis from current gymnastics team members. Additionally, a valid Melrose YMCA membership must be maintained through August, 2008, without any lapse of time. Team fees have been broken down into monthly and weekly fees, according to level. Enclosed please find a Team Practice Fee Schedule for your reference. Gymnasts may sign up for an entire month or they may choose to sign up for 1 or more weeks. Please note that there will be no team practice during the week of June 30th through July 4th. For your convenience, a Summer 2008 Team Practice Registration Form is available for download.

Evaluations and placement for all current team gymnasts will not be done until the middle of August for the 2008 - 2009 season. Therefore, it is important to note that gymnasts must sign up for the practice session for the level that they are currently on. No gymnast will be allowed to "move up" a level for summer practices. Please do not ask to have your gymnast moved up, as there will be no exceptions to this policy.

Registration will begin on April 28th, 2008, in person at the Business Office, located at 497 Main Street, during regular Business Office hours. A minimum of ten gymnasts must be enrolled per week in order for Team Practice to run that week. In the event of low enrollment, Parents will be notified and a refund or credit will be issued. This system allows us to keep costs down, yet still maintain a strong and safe program for all of our gymnasts.

Parents who may plan on sending their child/children to Gymnastics Camp please take note: Any gymnastics team member who is enrolled in Gymnastics Camp and still plans on attending gymnastics team practice sessions during the same week as Camp, must still pre-register and pay for those team practice sessions by June 13th, 2008. Team members who are attending Gymnastics Camp will not be allowed to leave Camp to go to team practice in the afternoon unless they have been pre-registered for that session.
