There are many ways you can help. At the YMCA, your time and talent go a long way. Every hour you spend as a YMCA volunteer translates into the caring attention a child needs to develop values like honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring for self and others. As a YMCA volunteer, you may lead a program, serve as a role model for young people, help out in the office or at a special event, raise money, or be part of a group or committee working on a neighborhood project. No matter how you help, you'll make a difference as you work with others in your community. Just one hour a week and you can be a positive part of a youth's day...and yours!

A contribution to the Melrose Family YMCA helps your bottom line at tax time while benefiting our community and assisting many needy individuals. Your money stays right here in your community to help your neighbors. Assistance is given for children in need of after school care, summer camp or daily child care, teens who want to stay fit and avoid obesity, older adults who need a place to socialize and stay active. Your donation helps them all. Every donation helps.

Do you have payroll deduction that is sent to the United Way? Give them our United Way number and your donation will be sent directly to the Melrose YMCA. Our United Way number is 3686.

Check with your human resources department to see if your company gives matching gifts for donations that you make. Send us the form and we will return it to your company for the matching donation.

Other Ways to Donate


There are many ways you donate the Melrose Family YMCA. Here are several:

Amex donations
Use your American Express to donate to the YMCA

Igive Shopping
Help the YMCA while you shop online. Use this link then proceed to the on-line store of your choice and make your purchases. The YMCA will get a percentage of your entire purchase.

You can donate online using your American Express card*. Click on the Giving Express graphic above or at the bottom of any Melrose YMCA web page to go to the JustGive Giving Express web site.

You can donate through the United Way program where you work but only if you specifically request that it goes to #3686. Please direct your United Way contribution to us by using our agency number when you donate.

Shop online using iGive.com. Up to 26% of your purchase at over 900 great stores is automatically donated to Melrose Family YMCA. Shop through our iGive link here.

You can remember the YMCA with a bequeathment in your will.

And of course, you can always write out a check. For your convenience, we have a donation form online ( .pdf file) that you can download and print to send in with your donation.

We are a 501 (C) (3) charity making all contributions tax deductible. All donations will receive written acknowledgment for tax purposes.

*Please note: American Express will deduct a transaction fee of 2.25% from your donation to cover processing costs. The charities will receive your donation amount, minus the 2.25% American Express processing fee, from our partner JustGive. This transaction fee is similar to or less than the processing fee the charity would pay if you were to charge your donation with your American Express Card through any other means (i.e., over the phone to the charity, through the charity's website, etc.). You will not be charged any additional fees for using the American Express Donation Site and your dollar donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
