| Common Ground Teen Center |
The Common Ground Teen Center has relocated to the Melrose YMCA Sports Center at 152 Tremont Street. The City of Melrose has entered into a collaboration with the Melrose Y by agreeing to fund the staff who organize, supervise and run the Teen Center. Assistance will also come from the Melrose Police Department and Common Ground Teen Center Founder, Ed Schmidt.
Every Friday night the Common Ground Teen Center is open for only Middle School age kids. The hours will be from 7 pm to 10 pm with no admittance allowed after 9 pm. There is a $3.00 fee for entry. All persons attending must have a completed waiver on file signed by both the student and parents/guardian to enter. The waiver form is available for download here in a printable .pdf file. The waiver form is also availble at the Melrose YMCA 497 Main Street locations or at the Sports Center.
The Common Ground Teen Center will not be open on Saturday nights except for special events.
Qualified staff supervise the center and coordinate the activities. The center offers billiards, ping pong, a stand up arcade game, PS2 (Playstation 2), Nintendo Wii, a full sized gym for activities like basketball and dodgeball, board games, and plenty of comfy furniture.
